So what is Direct Neurofeedback?
It’s a technology that helps improve the functioning of your brain.
Most importantly, it helps your brain get out of the stuck and locked patterns of thinking and reacting.
It does three things really well:
- It helps to reset your brain.
- It helps to calm down your nervous system
- It helps to stabilize your moods
So how does it work exactly on my brain?
Well here’s what happens.
Sensors are placed on the scalp. Some of these sensors track your brainwave patterns and gives us a reading 16 times per second.
While the other sensors are sending back to your brain, tiny little electromagnetic signals that you can’t feel and that are completely safe. These signals are actually 100 times less than what you’re even getting on your cell
phone.
These electromagnetic pulses target the irregular dysfunctional brainwave patterns that are like interference.
And by doing that, they gently unblock the neural pathways that are locked and frozen in stress responses and in unproductive ways of thinking and reacting.
So Direct Neurofeedback allows your brain to reorganize itself and function the way it knows how to function but can’t function because of all this interference.
What neural science has shown us is that trauma, anxiety and dysfunctional thinking is associated with maladaptive brainwave activity. In other words, the brain gets locked in unproductive habit patterns.
So when you feel overwhelmed, panicked and anxious, your brain is trapped in a fear loop
that keeps you stuck in the fight, flight and freeze response.
This maladaptive activity is happening in deeper areas of the brain that we call the limbic system.
We know that in people who’ve had trauma, these parts of the brain are more active than they need to be, which makes people feel like they’re on all the time and their nervous system gets over activated.
When this is happening, it means that your brain is not working well.
Direct Neurofeedback is able to gently work at unlocking these areas, to restore more flexibility and to reset the brain.
So how safe is it?
It’s completely safe.
Direct Neurofeedback is FDA-approved, it’s painless and it has no side effects.
It uses electromagnetic fields that are weaker than even the existing radio waves in the air around us.
So what happens during a session?
During a session, you’re simply sitting with one of our technicians who’s talking with you and monitoring how you’re feeling.
Often, during the very first session, people feel a sense of relaxation, greater clarity, more energy and already feel more optimistic.
Most importantly, with Direct Neurofeedback, people start noticing improvements and positive changes within the first five to six sessions.
So generally, we ask people to plan on around 20 sessions to achieve lasting permanent results.
Now, some people may need a little less and other people may need a little more, but we don’t ask you to sign up for those sessions up front, rather we want you to see the changes happening for yourself within those first five to six sessions, and that’s when people want to continue.
It’s also important to understand that our neurofeedback system is not one-size-fits-all.
Everyone gets a tailor-made protocol and your protocol is adjusted at each session.
So how often do I need to come?
To start with, we recommend a couple of sessions a week for the first three, four weeks, although some people may do more, and after about six to eight sessions, we can go down to once a week.
And yes, the results last.
It’s not like you stop neurofeedback and everything comes back.
However, many of our clients come back for little tune-ups here and there every few months because life happens and your brain is constantly changing.
So, how do I get started if I want to do this?
Well, the first step is we send your questionnaire to fill out so you can list the symptoms you’re looking to reduce and eliminate.
This is going to be our before and after measure because we really want to track the effectiveness of the treatment as you go along.
So the first session is one hour where we do an intake and we give you the very first neurofeedback treatment and the cost is $185.
After that, the sessions are half an hour and the cost is $135.
We’re open seven days a week and until 8 pm on weekdays and you can book online also anytime.
I can confidently say that 85% of our clients either get good results, great results, or life-transforming results.
